Exhibition – Relative

My postgraduate exhibition, Relative, is currently available to view at Aberystwyth School of Art. You can view these images in print alongside the work of other postgraduate artists until the 12th of September.

In this work, I explore how perspective and scale are experienced differently through the eyes of a child. Using wide angles and forced perspective, I exaggerate everyday and unusual scenes to highlight the relative differences in how a child perceives their world. As the project developed, it evolved into a study of discovery—capturing a child’s growing understanding of their physical surroundings. Even in familiar and relatable settings, each moment becomes a unique fingerprint of exploration.

Below are further images, not seen in the exhibition.

Relative

An exploration of relativity through growth. In childhood, the world feels vast, timeless, and full of wonder. As we age and grow, time accelerates and the once-enormous becomes familiar and small. Using a 14-24mm wide-angle lens, possibly the least used of my lenses, the scale of objects is exaggerated in relation to Llŷr. Capturing how immense the world can feel through a child’s experience and eyes.

Journey

Taken whilst shooting Reach. Images exploring a possible theme titled Journey.

Dogs of Wales

As I begin to catch up with the huge knock-on effects of the pandemic, I’ve made a start on a little project I’ve been wanting to run for a while. In a roughly similar format to the hugely popular Humans of New York, something to put together whilst walking little Caws as he meets other dogs out and about. Dogs of Wales, or Cwn Cymru.

Here’s the first post taken from the instagram. Meet my dog, Caws 🙂

Caws like ball, stick, treato, lick, stick and eat. And ball. And beach. Also ball.
